Up for auction is a Vintage Imperial Hatchet and Leather sheath. The hatchet is marked Imperial Prov. R.I. U.S.A., with a crown over the letters ria in the word Imperial. The hatchet is just over 10 inches tall and has a full guard above the handle that I think is nickel. The finish is shiny with some minor age spots and peppering that probably would buff out but I wouldn't. The blade edge has no nicks and looks like it was never sharpened or used. The handles are flawless, no chips or cracks and are embossed on both sides with what looks like a moose. The leather sheath too is in realy nice condition. THE HANDLES ARE THE SAME MATCHING SHADE OF COLOR BUT BECAUSE OF LIGHTING THE ONE LOOKS DIFFERENT (lighter) IN THE PHOTO. THEY COLOR MATCH PERFECTLY AND SHOW NO WEAR. The stitching is good, the snap works fine and there are only a couple of small surface dents in the leather. Just want to be accurate. This hatchet is in overall excellent condition and would be a great addition for an Imperial or hatchet collector.
