As many of you know, I used to sell some of the most rare antique combination locks on Ebay, for several years. Due to eBay's new bizarre and harmful policy changes, I've nearly stopped.
I have a few pieces I thought I'd put online, and see if eBay still "works" or not.
This is the largest antique spinning type padlock I've ever found! It is huge, measuring 13cm from top to bottom, with the body of the lock being 5cm tall. The main section of the lock measures 4.5cm across. It appears to be constructed from solid brass, and it weighs 620 grams, or more than 1.25 pounds! All of the wheels spin as they should, but I do not know the combination.
I'm an American, but travel to China quite often, searching for unique antique items, which I used to sell on eBay (but now mostly send to "real" auctions). I have found several rare locks in China in the past, but I do not believe most of them are actually Chinese in origin. Many countries brought a lot of equipment to China over the years, especially in the 1800's and early 1900's, to build railroads, and develop other industries. If I had to guess, I would think that the lock is European or American in origin.
